Are You Organic? Four Insights From Perfectly Imperfect Food
The more odd, funky-looking, and imperfect we are, the more we have to offer and the richer our experience.
I love farmer’s markets.
Whether it’s the billowing swirl of delicious scents, chaotic excursions with children big and small running wild, or peaceful strolls with familiar friends, one thing they all share in common is organic, locally grown produce.
From fruits, vegetables, or herbs picked fresh from the ground and brought to market with care, heart, and smiles; there’s always something fresh on offer.
As I make my way through the restauranteurs, home cooks, and nibblers, I always take time to appreciate what it takes for the carrots, celery, and seasonal fruits to make it from farm to market.
Anyone who has eaten organic produce fresh from the ground will attest to its unique quality. There’s a vitality, crispness, and rawness to each bite that is remarkable to the experience of each bite.
It’s easy to see and feel how produce cultivated from the same hands and hearts who now beam with pride as we pick and choose from their harvest is preferred to what is usually trucked in from far away places to our local big-name markets.
